How This Weight Loss Diet Plan Works

You lose fat when you eat slightly fewer calories than your body uses every day (a calorie deficit). The goal is not to stop eating. The goal is to eat regular, balanced meals with enough protein and fibre, so you stay full, keep your muscle, and lose fat steadily.

Sample Full Day Indian Diet Chart for Weight Loss

Use this as a general example. Your exact portions depend on your weight, height, age, activity and goal.

  • 6 AM to 7 AM (empty stomach): warm water or green tea

  • Breakfast, 7 AM to 8 AM: 1 bowl oats (40 g) with warm milk

  • Mid-morning, 11 AM to 12 PM: apple and orange, or any seasonal fruit

  • Lunch: 1 bowl dal with salad, plus 4 eggs or 100 g paneer

  • Evening, 4 PM to 5 PM: coffee with less sugar, or green tea

  • Dinner, 8 PM to 9 PM: veggie sabzi with 2 roti and salad, plus 100 g chicken or paneer

  • 10 PM to 11 PM: sleep on time; 7 to 8 hours of sleep helps fat loss

12 Diet Tips for Weight Loss

  • Do not skip breakfast. Skipping it often makes you snack more later in the day.

  • Eat regular meals at fixed times to control hunger and cravings.

  • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. They are low in calories and high in fibre, vitamins and minerals.

  • Get more active. Exercise burns the extra calories you cannot cut through diet alone.

  • Drink plenty of water. People often confuse thirst with hunger.

  • Eat high fibre foods like oats, whole grains, brown rice, beans, peas and lentils to stay full longer.

  • Read food labels and check calories before you buy packaged food.

  • Use a smaller plate. It helps you eat smaller portions, and eat slowly because it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to feel full.

  • Do not ban foods you love. Enjoy an occasional treat within your daily calories.

  • Do not stock junk food like chocolates, biscuits, chips and cold drinks at home.

  • Cut down on alcohol. It adds a lot of hidden calories.

  • Plan your meals for the week so you do not end up eating outside food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much weight can I lose in a month with this diet?

Most people can safely lose about 2 to 4 kg in a month with a consistent calorie deficit and regular exercise. Results depend on your starting weight and how consistent you are.

Is this diet plan good for vegetarians?

Yes. Use paneer, curd, dal, chana, sprouts, soya and tofu for protein instead of eggs, chicken or fish.

Should I stop eating rice and roti to lose weight?

No. You can eat rice and roti in controlled portions. Total calories and protein matter more than cutting one food completely.
